Ghent’s fourth tower is a modernist masterpiece by the Belgian architect Henry van de Velde. The 64-metre concrete building has 24 floors that house more than 3 million books. It was initially conceived as a university library and fulfils that same role to this day.

The university and government are investing in a sustainable renovation which must be completed by 2020.
