This exhibition provides an extensive overview of the work of artist duo Denicolai & Provoost. In 2019 they created an animated film entitled “Hello, are we in the show?” in partnership with the S.M.A.K.. This film was transformed into an impressive installation, which is now on public display for the first time.
For twenty years, the Italian-Belgian artist duo has worked together in a multidisciplinary manner which is aimed at disrupting our standard patterns of thought and routine behaviour.
They develop protocols and scenarios while paying particular attention to the uniqueness of a specific place. They involve people, objects and stories as “collaborators” in this artistic process.
Their working method comprises acts that disconnect existing elements from their familiar context, rearrange them or reconnect them to create new forms. These are expressed in various media such as performances, videos, installations, models and studies.
