“Heen & terug” is a journey between the MSK and the S.M.A.K in Ghent, in which the museums shed light on how they work together and how they are related today.

The historic bond between the two museums is the starting point for a series of encounters.

Works of art from the S.M.A.K’s collection are temporarily returned to the place where they were created or first shown.

The museums also forge links between old, modern and contemporary art by exchanging meaningful works of art.

In this way, a dynamic dialogue arises that defines how the museums and their collections complement each other and also how they are distinct.
