Enter the world of minimalist music with Music for 18 Musicians by Steve Reich. He composed this piece long before techno even had a name. Tight, rhythmic patterns and a pulsating sound field characterise the composition, which consists of 11 movements, each based on a single chord. The tight, rhythmic work draws you in, and is almost physically addictive. This hypnotic, psycho-acoustic experience is brought to life by the group Het Muziek, the percussion group HIIIT, and the a cappella group Storm in a Jar.
ROLROLROL, a project by Jameszoo and Niels Broos, closes the night. This is the late-night reimagining of Reich, as club energy, jazz logic, and digital friction take over the evening. Imagine a hyper-coloured short circuit with deadly precision that lies somewhere between post-jazz, club logic, and cartoon science fiction.
