Since the 1930s, the Ghent judicial police have kept a unique collection in the so-called "Museum of Crime", which is only open to police officers in training or by invitation. The STAM has made material from this collection accessible to everyone. In this exhibition, you will discover the origins of Ghent’s judicial police.

You will be introduced to the usual investigation techniques that led to solving crimes at that time, such as taking evidence, ballistics, interviewing witnesses, reconstructions, including the roles of police physicians and other experts. These techniques, illustrated with original evidence, will guide you through the exhibition. Well-known and less well-known murder cases and thefts in the region around Ghent are also covered.

The information continues beneath the illustrations.
