Painting after Painting

Some contemporary artists draw on motifs and techniques from the past while also exploring and pushing the boundaries of the medium. Others create narrative work that addresses their daily life, political or social issues and matters of identity, gender or representation. Others again take a more abstract or formalistic approach, examining the relationship with other contemporary forms of visual representation.
