On the basis of archive research and interviews with witnesses, this exhibition sheds light on the foundation of the Association for the Museum of Contemporary Art.

For decades, Karel Geirlandt devoted himself to the foundation of an autonomous Museum of Contemporary Art. He achieved his goal in two stages. In 1975, the Museum of Contemporary Art was established as part of the Museum of Fine Arts (MSK). In 1999, the museum got its own building and a new name: the Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art (S.M.A.K.).
