Historical City Centre

Historical City Centre

The Ghent city centre

The Belfry is the heart of the Historical Centre, which is divided into:

  • Torens-site
  • Graslei-site
  • Gravensteen-site
  • Vrijdagmarkt-site
  • Portus Ganda-site
  • Kouter-site.

Wherever you look at the largely pedestrianised city centre, you will see buildings and monuments with a story to tell. A 1,000-year-old fortress, three medieval towers and the most beautiful double row of houses in Europe, on each side of the river, all within walking distance from one another. Don’t forget to visit the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb!
