The Minard theatre is the cradle of Ghent popular theatre, where theatre actor and director Romain Deconinck was at home. The theatre is housed in a 19th-century building designed by architect Louis Minard.

The building has undergone several transformations and renovations in the course of its history.

The beautiful entrance hall has been preserved and the auditorium has been modernised. The roofs have been entirely renovated and equipped with thermal and acoustic insulation. The renovation team used authentic Flemish rooftiles of the same type as the original ones. The cornice of the façade was reconstructed to match the original model.

The evening’s performance is mulled over around the fine oval bar until the early hours.

Romain Deconinck, founder and driving force behind the Minard, keeps a permanent watch over his popular theatre.
