The Bijloke site welcomes a summer bar

3 Aug 2017

Ready to discover a cool new summer bar in Ghent? From 11 to 27 August, the gardens at Music centre De Bijloke will be transformed into a cosy green terrace, where you can enjoy free concerts every Friday and Sunday. The bar will be run by STAMcafé.

De Bijloke is the beating cultural heart of Ghent. The site includes a 14th-century abbey, a 17th-century cloister and a 21st-century new building around a beautiful inner garden. It hosts the Ghent City Museum (STAM), that tells the story of Ghent, and an art campus brimming with students. And there’s also Music centre De Bijloke, with its yearly programme featuring 120 concerts and events.

Music, nature and tranquillity

In July, the gardens at De Bijloke once again hosted a successful edition of the Gent Jazz festival. In August this green oasis is welcoming a summer bar. Have a seat on the terrace, make yourself comfortable on the lawn or under the trees and enjoy a picnic, relax and watch your children romp around.

The summer bar is open every day from 2 p.m. onwards, from Friday 11 up to and including Sunday 27 August. Every Friday and Sunday you can enjoy free concerts by top musicians. The programme includes six acoustic jazz, folk and world-music concerts. Drinks will be served by STAMcafé.

For more information on these concerts have a look at the Facebook page of the De Bijloke Music centre.
