Ghent has had a harbour since the Middle Ages. The old port was located in the city centre at Graslei and Korenlei. All port activities were moved to the north of Ghent in the 19th century.

North Sea Port is a versatile port: various types of goods are handled at the quays. It’s a multimodal port, whose focus is on inland navigation. North Sea Port is a European top port that stretches over more than 60 kilometres and two countries, Belgium and the Netherlands.
