If you’re feeling adventurous, ask a Ghent local the way to Pieter Vanderdoncktdoorgang. They will have no idea what you mean. But if you ask for the ‘Glazen Straatje’, or ‘Little Glass Street’, Ghent’s red light district, they will all know exactly where it is…even if they don’t want to admit it.

Famous, notorious, listed building

This little passageway with a notorious reputation has been the centre of window prostitution in Ghent since 1830. The covered arcade with its glass ceiling is a listed building: an excuse to venture down the Little Glass Street, past the rows of young women smiling at you from behind the glass shop fronts.
