‘C’est Party!’ is a one-of-a-kind exhibition celebrating a century of nightlife in Flanders and Brussels. Room by room, you travel through time; from the roaring twenties of 100 years ago to this century's “pandemic twenties”. The exhibition weaves together music, fashion, social codes, and technology into a compelling story of Belgian party culture, with a strong focus on the evolution of music technology. Discover how nightlife has transformed from live dance orchestras and mechanical organs to today’s DJ culture and turntables. Along the way, you’ll explore familiar and timeless themes such as youth culture, partying, alcohol and drug use, sexuality, friendship, and safety.
The exhibition features rich visual and audio experiences. The final room, which includes accounts of sexually transgressive behaviour, may be confronting for some visitors.
