This exhibition highlights her independence and the artistic quality of her work. A wide selection of her work will be on display, not only from the museum's own collection but also loans from various public and private collections.

In 1904, Montigny settled in Deurle, near Sint-Martens-Latem, and developed an original and individual oeuvre. Her work is characterised not only by her approach to the outdoors and rural life along the River Lys, but also by her fascination with interiors and portraits and her sensitive depiction of themes such as motherhood and childhood.

A series of drawings and etchings originated in London, where Montigny stayed during the First World War. She observed not only the society in and around the parks but also the wounded Belgian soldiers being cared for there.
