Monterey Gent is the name of the cultural platform with summer bar at the old music kiosk in Citadelpark in Ghent. In summer, this historic location is transformed into a unique platform for both up-and-coming artistic talent and well-established names. In addition to a fixed weekly musical offer, the programme also includes stand-up comedy, lectures, theatre, film, yoga and numerous other activities.
The name Monterey refers in the first place to the history of Citadelpark, which featured a fort called “de Monterey” long before the former citadel existed.
The summer bar across from the kiosk is the ideal place to relax in the city centre, and to enjoy a delicious drink and the many activities organised in the kiosk. All activities at Monterey are free of charge. This way we hope to attract local residents, Ghent citizens and other visitors to discover and enjoy the park again.
