In 1857, one of Belgium's first asylums for the insane opened its doors in the buildings of what is now the Dr. Guislain Museum. It’s a place where people can learn more about the history of psychiatry.

The former bathhouse of Hospice Guislain now houses the pub of the Dr. Guislain Museum. It’s a convivial meeting place in the museum’s courtyard and a small green oasis just outside the city centre of Ghent.
