Centuries ago, here, at ‘Tusschen Brugghen’, people were hard at work. Graslei is where ships would unload their goods. The Cooremetershuys (guild house of the grain weighers), the Guild Hall of the Free Boatmen, het Spijker (a granary)... are all impressive reminders of the city's economic growth. Today, the Graslei and the Korenlei are all about relaxation and fun: enjoy the unique view, soak up the sunshine and sip a drink at one of the many outdoor cafes on this buzzing quayside, with your feet dangling just above the water of the river Lys.
This is the beating heart of Ghent’s city centre.
