The Royal Academy of Dutch Language and Literature (KANTL) was founded in 1886. Housed in the eighteenth-century Huis van Oombergen, the Academy is located near Vrijdagmarkt square.

The Academy is a cultural institution promoting study, reflection and debate on the Dutch language and literature. It is the driving force for the use of Dutch and an advocate for Dutch-language literature of the past and present. The association produces publications, awards prizes, formulates advice and opinions, and organises literary, scientific and cultural events.

You can visit the building during one of KANTL’s events or upon reservation.
