Wannes Nimmegeers studied photography in Ghent and has lived there ever since. For ten years, he was the city photographer for the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws and explored Ghent with his camera. In that time, he witnessed thousands of incidents and newsworthy events. But his work took him outside Belgium as well, giving him the opportunity to visit locations such as the Balkans, Canada, China, Egypt, Georgia, Morocco and Romania. Thanks to their combination of light, framing and colourful personalities, his photos provide sketches of a theatrical universe.

For this exhibition, Wannes has selected works from his rich archives that illustrate city life in all of Ghent's nooks and crannies. He takes you along with him on a journey through the city as he sees it.
