Marc Sleen would have celebrated his one hundredth birthday in 2022 . His brainchild Nero reached the age of 75. Two reasons for the Marc Sleen Foundation and the STAM museum to organise an exhibition at the STAMplein square.

Cities play an important in Marc Sleen’s oeuvre.  His native town of Ghent and other cities like Antwerp and Brussels often serve as the setting for the adventures of Nero & Co.

The exhibition “The city speaks” not only displays original works by Marc Sleen but also by a new generation of comic book authorise like Judith Van Istendael, Guy Delisle, Joost Swarte, Aimée de Jongh and Tardi. Each of them portrays a city they have a special connection with.
