Ghent-born artist Jules De Bruycker was one of the most pioneering graphic artists in Belgium in the early 20th century. He was primarily known as an etcher and graphic artist. But a core aspect of his oeuvre that is less well-known are his drawings. With this exhibition, the Museum of Fine Arts (MSK) is changing that.
After a career spanning 40 years, De Bruycker left behind an oeuvre of 309 individual prints. The MSK in Ghent is presenting 150 of them in this exhibition, allowing visitors to discover the visual world of Jules De Bruycker through drawings, watercolours and gouaches. Works that highlight his technical mastery, powers of observation and inventiveness, all of which made him a unique and original artist.
