“Kassa Kassa!” will take you on a trip down memory lane to the grocer’s shop around the corner, vintage billboards and an old-fashioned milk float, and will make you think about contemporary purchasing behaviour, mass consumption and consumerism.
What journey does a product take from factory to shop? What advertising tricks entice you to shop? And is home delivery really a new phenomenon? These and other topics will guide you through a complex yet highly recognisable story.
The exhibition is centred around “’t Winkeltje”, a typical corner shop from the 1960s with stacks of cans, jars of candy and an old-fashioned balance scale on the counter.
