Go back in time and enjoy a delicious medieval breakfast during The Ghent Festivities. Choose from a poor or rich man’s breakfast, or a Lieven Bauwens breakfast. There are also special children’s breakfasts.

With a medieval breakfast under your belt, you are ready for a day at the Ghent Festivities. You don’t need to make a reservation, but you have to be at the Museum of Industry before 11:30 a.m.

Poor man’s breakfast
Rye bread, rye bread with currants, cheese, boiled egg, honey, mustard, lard and pork crackling and butter. One drink included: coffee, tea, buttermilk, apple juice or table beer.

Rich man’s breakfast
White wheat bread, rye bread, rye bread with currants, cooked ham, head cheese, cheese, boiled egg, honey, mustard, lard and pork crackling and butter. One drink included: coffee, tea, buttermilk, apple juice, table beer, red wine or dark Trappist beer.

Lieven Bauwens breakfast
Croissant, pastry, white wheat bread, curd cheese with white or brown caster sugar, 3 types of jam, pate and dark chocolate. One drink included: coffee, tea, buttermilk, apple juice or hot chocolate.

Children's breakfast
Pain au chocolat, strips of white bread, a soft-boiled egg, a piece of chocolate, strawberry jam and honey.  One drink included: buttermilk, apple juice or hot chocolate.

This activity takes place on a location within the low emission zone

Are you driving to Ghent? First check whether you may enter the city centre with your vehicle. Clean vehicles may enter the city centre free of charge, polluting vehicles have to pay. Is your vehicle allowed to enter, but do you not have a Belgian or Dutch number plate? You will ALWAYS have to register!
