The best city map
The basis of your visit to Ghent: the digital city map. You can not only plan your route with it, but also find all attractions, stores, eateries, museums, and a little extra information too. In short: you have all of Ghent in your pocket! Digital is ideal – because the map also shows you where you are - but you can also download it or ask for a free paper city map in the Visit Gent Information Centre.
Walking routes
You can do everything on foot
Bring your walking shoes because Ghent is the perfect city for discovering on foot. Most of the attractions are located walking distance from one another and, along the way, you will find hidden spots that you may have missed with a faster method of transport. The many terraces on the way will allow you to take regular breaks too. Want to follow one of the many walking routes? You can find them here!
Cycling routes
Carry on exploring
Do you want to discover the suburbs of Ghent or get to know the various municipalities better? Then why not jump on your bike? Bike streets, bike motorways, bike rental and many cycle paths... The bicycle, in all its various forms, is lord and master here. And why not do as they do in Ghent: loosen up your calves (and perhaps lubricate your throat), and get cycling!
Sailing
Fun on the water - guaranteed
With two rivers in the heart of the city - the Lys and the Scheldt - and various other waterways in the municipalities, anyone who wants to use an alternative method to discover the city of Ghent should jump into a boat. Propel yourself in a canoe or leave the hard work to a skipper: the boat tours in Ghent are always a fantastic experience.
And now that you're here...
Ghent is too much for just one day – which becomes obvious when you take a look at the packed diary. From exhibitions to top plays, and from concerts to flea markets; there's always something to do. Browse all the events in the city and upgrade your walking or cycling route.
