This is the first LGBTQ+ guided tour of a museum’s permanent collection in Belgium. During the tour, the guide will tell you the queer stories behind 12 of the works in the museum. You will discover how people used to experience sexuality and gender and make the connection with how we look at it now. The tour was put together by members of the LGBTQ+ community. The tour will continue to evolve as we start looking at the museum collection from a different perspective.
The stops of this tour include scenes of the goddess Artemis and her female companions, the transformation of Hermaphroditus and ‘a man who was in a relationship with a man’.
The guided tour by members of the LGBTQ+ community is available in Dutch, French and English.
