The landscape of the picturesque Leie region was a source of inspiration for lots of artists. Follow in their footsteps during this cycling tour, which starts in Ghent, takes you to Deinze and then leads you back to Ghent.
You will discover the green areas surrounding Ghent and cycle through Parkbos, one of Ghent’s green lungs. This forest extends as far as Zwijnaarde, Sint-Denijs-Westrem, De Pinte and Sint-Martens-Latem and features as many as 9 castles, including the neoclassical Grand Noble castle.
Deurle and Sint-Martens-Latem are known as artists’ villages. The Dhondt-Dhaenens museum, the Municipal Gust De Smet Museum and the Gevaert-Minne Museum display works by the artists who found inspiration in the picturesque environment.
Other gems along the route are the Renaissance castle Ooidonk and Drongen Abbey.
