When strolling through Ghent, you cannot skip the Castle of the Counts and the Castle of Gerard the Devil, two impressive medieval buildings that have been conserved surprisingly well. In the green area around the city you can also visit beautiful castles , by bike or on foot. The Castles cycle route (48 km) takes you to the castles of Destelbergen, Heusden, Laarne en Kalken.
