Autumn is the perfect time of year to visit an exhibition: after months of living outside and enjoying every bit of sunshine, it is time for some calmer entertainment in cultural form. An overview!

Discovering museums as the leaves fall

Autumn is a wonderful museum season, full of new exhibitions to discover. You can, for example, visit the Arts Quarter in Ghent. Combine a visit to one of the museums in the neighbourhood with a walk through Citadelpark, Ghent’s green lung. The Ghent University Botanical Garden is also a must in autumn, even when it rains - some parts of the garden are covered. Don’t miss out on the Ghent museum cafés, and opt for a CityCard Gent if you plan on doing a museum marathon. That card allows you to go to all Ghent museums and take public transport free of charge.

Late Thursday in the Ghent museums

Extra tip: every first Thursday of the month, many museums are open until ten pm.
