Ghent has a rich industrial past. Traces of that past are visible everywhere in the city. Some of the most impressive buildings date from the era when Ghent was a major textile hub. One of the best examples is the Museum of Industry, which has been set up in a former cotton spinning mill. This museum allows you to discover the industrial side of Ghent. Another area where the former industrial atmosphere is still very much present is the Old Docks.
