Our Days on Earth

Lukas Roels makes nude portraits of children. He creates sombre black-and-white photographs centred on topics such as melancholia, open-mindedness, wishes and dreams, time and transience. The children’s nakedness has no sexual meaning: they are not hiding anything and are not flirting. Recently, a few of them have again posed for Lukas's camera as young adults.
