Ghent is working to create a totally accessible city, also for visitors. For example, the municipality has changed the paths in the historic city centre so they can used by visitors in wheelchairs. There are also a number of transport options for visitors to Ghent with reduced mobility, or families with young children.
If you have a temporary or permanent disability, or have difficulty walking, this city guide can support you during your visit to Ghent. The guide includes a tour through the historical city centre with as few obstacles as possible. Moreover, the guide includes extra info on accessibility for each must-see and you will also find street art, public toilets and accommodations.

A wheelchair is available at the VisitGent information office. It can be reserved according to availability by sending an email in advance with your contact information (first name, last name, email address and phone number) and the date you want to collect it. The wheelchair can be loaned for a maximum of one day and must be returned 15 minutes before closing time. View the information office hours here.
