The Route

Ghent and cycling, that's like cheese on your pasta. It makes it all just a little bit better. This cycle route offers 53 km of cycling fun along the most beautiful cycle paths in Ghent and its surroundings. Of course, you are not going to cycle at random. This route is peppered with fun facts about the various landmarks.

Did you know that... Mozart had played on the organ in the Baudelokapel?

Enjoy the beautiful view and become wiser on this voyage of discovery through the wider surroundings of Ghent.

Ready? Off you go!

Pick up the map at one of the bike points or the inquiry desk of Visit Gent. Or make it even easier on yourself and download the digital version of the route (both for smartphone and GPS). With this route you make use of the ferry in Afsnee and Baarle-Drongen (only open from May through September). You can also choose a route without these 2 ferries (51km instead of 53km).

Make your tour extra special with your perfect rental bike. A city bike or cargobike with or without electric support, a tandem for aduls or with kids, a long tail bike, kids bike or bicycle trailer: you can rent a wide range of models at De Fietsambassade or bike points.

Come along, choose your bike and put the pedal to the metal. It's as simple as that. Bring your friends, children or picnic basket and enjoy Ghent.
