Groups are welcome at the Old Abbey for meetings and conferences, spiritual retreats and social or cultural events. More information can be found on the website. Max. 150 people for overnight stays and max. 800 people for meetings.
The Old Abbey traces its origins back to the 10th century. What started as a community of canons grew into a Norbertine abbey, where residents devoted themselves to agriculture, care and spirituality.
The abbey has seen turbulent times and has had various roles over the centuries — from destruction during the Iconoclasm to reconstruction, industrial activities alongside religious education in the 19th century, and conversion to a hospital and barracks during the world wars. The buildings you see today bear traces of that eventful history. Since 1998, the estate has been a listed heritage site and a retreat centre, run by a small Jesuit community.
Want to get away from the hustle and bustle? At the De Pelgrim guesthouse, you can stay full-board in complete tranquillity. The 75 rooms are simply furnished and all en-suite — the perfect retreat for anyone seeking reflection, peace, or simply a relaxing stay in the countryside. Daily activities are up to you: do your own thing or follow the programme of the retreat centre.

Would you like to find out more about this unique place? Then join one of the guided tours held every three months. You can choose between a historical tour focusing on the attractive cloisters, the neo-Gothic chapel and numerous works of art. Or you can opt for a nature walk through the abbey garden with its rich biodiversity of flora and fauna. Booking is essential, as places are limited.

Every second Sunday of the month, join us for a cosy brunch at a long table. The extensive buffet offers something for everyone: from fresh bread and pastries to homemade salads, fruit, yoghurt and savoury treats. You can also enjoy a glass of cava or a hot coffee, followed by a stroll through the superb garden. Booking is recommended as the brunch is quickly fully booked.
