Ghent has been inextricably linked with its port since the Middle Ages. In olden days, the harbour was located right in the city centre, now the port activities are concentrated north of the city. Since 2018, the port of Ghent has been part of the cross-border North Sea Port and has become an ever more important trade hub. Anyone who is interested can explore the port of Ghent by boat, bus or bike or on foot. In addition, Ghent boasts several marinas where boat owners can moor their pleasure craft. Highly recommended!
