Emile Braunplein looks like a tableau from a Brueghel painting: warmly wrapped-up skaters whirl around in a mediaeval setting. If you look upwards for a moment, you will realise that the architecture of the City Pavilion fits the scene perfectly.

Gloves, scarf and hat? Check! The ice skating rink is back. Make the most beautiful pirouettes (or at best, the most graceful fall) or just let yourself glide.

Does all the exercise make you thirsty? Take a break and have a drink at Chez Babette, the new bar adjacent to the rink.

Are you driving to Ghent? First check whether you may enter the city centre with your vehicle. Clean vehicles may enter the city centre free of charge, polluting vehicles have to pay. Is your vehicle allowed to enter, but do you not have a Belgian or Dutch number plate? You will ALWAYS have to register!
