Chocolatier and pastry chef Marijn Coertjens is renowned for his quality and creativity in Belgium and abroad. His passion for chocolate and pastries enabled him to learn the craft at the best pâtisseries in Japan.

For five years, Marijn ran a chocolaterie in the prestigious five-star hotel The Peninsula Hong Kong, where he prepared creations for major celebrities such as David Beckham, Elton John, Cindy Crawford, Kobe Bryant and Hugh Jackman. He passes on his skills to professionals and this teaching career has brought him to far-flung places like Singapore, Japan, Mexico, Chicago, Shanghai and Dubai. In addition, he has won numerous national and international awards.

All his experiences are reflected in the creations displayed in his shop at Burgstraat, just a stone’s throw from the Castle of the Counts. The shop’s unique interior is inspired by a cocoa plantation and in the shop, you can find out more about cocoa as a raw material. Be tempted by the wide range of pastries, pralines and macarons.
