Not brought your bike and prefer electric pedal power? In Ghent, you can easily rent an e-bike from Dott to get around the city. Download the app via the App Store (Apple) or Google Play Store (Android) and kick off your bike trip through the city right away.
Dott bikes are easily recognised by their striking blue frame with red wheels. Can't directly spot an available bike? Thanks to the Dott app, you immediately know how far you are from the closest bikes, and you can head straight there. Planning a long ride? The app also shows you how much battery percentage is left on the available bikes, so you are sure to choose one with sufficient range.
The rental of Dott bike is calculated per minute and continues until you end your ride. You also pay a start charge to unlock the bike, unless you are using a Dott pass.
Tip: In company? You can rent several bikes with one account
Please note: To start your ride, you must always upload a minimum amount. It is not enough just to connect your payment card.

How can I download the app?
- Download Dott app in Apple Store or Google Play Store.
- Create an account using a telephone number and e-mail address.
- Add payment method.
- Upload a copy of your driving licence, ID or passport in order to confirm your age. You must be at least 18 years old to ride a Dott bike.
Where do I find available bikes?
- Open Dott app.
- Zoom in and out on the available map to see where the closest Dott is parked.
- Can't find the Dott? Click 'ring' in the app and follow the sound to quickly find your bike.
Can I cycle wherever I like?
In some zones restrictions apply:
- Red zone: no cycling or parking
- Yellow zone: automatic lowering of speed
- Grey zone: no parking
These zones are clearly marked on the map in the app
How do I initiate a bike ride?
You can start your bike ride by scanning or manually entering the QR code shown on top of the bike. Click ‘unlock’ and ‘start ride’ to set off.
Tip: to find a bike and unlock it, you need an internet connection.
How do I end a bike ride?
Parked? Then click ‘Stop ride’ in the app. Important: on some bikes you need to manually lock the back wheel. Pull out the pin from the back of the mudguard, then push the pin into the wheel lock on the side. Heard a click? Then everything's fine!
Tip: to end a bike trip, you need an internet connection.
Can I pause my ride?
You can pause the ride for up to 60 minutes by pressing the 'Pause' button in the app. The standard rate per minute does continue. Click ‘Continue ride’ to set off again.
