Good to know

Culinary walk that stimulates all the senses. Take your time to discover different addresses that according to chef, food stylist and blogger Els make our city so unique.

Founder ELISA KOOKT, chef and food stylist

Freelance food stylist, recipe developer and chef: Els Sirejacob (1977) does it all. Sirejacob was the driving force behind Café Parti and Eetbar in her hometown Ghent. At the moment she is mainly known for her no-nonsense food blog 'Elisa Kookt'. And if that isn't enough - the cooking talent - shows her other passion, camping with a camper, soon also in a book.

Walk a mile in our shoes

7,4 km - 9900 steps

The perfect way to start your day: pain à la grecque at the more than 400 year old bakery Himschoot. More time? Then you can go to Limerick for a coffee. A little further on is my favourite butcher's shop, St-Pierre, where I can't get past without buying a delicious dry sausage.  People with a sweet tooth can go straight to the San Pietro ice cream parlour. The creamy hazelnut ice cream is a taste bomb and my all time favourite flavour. Stroll on, all the way to the Citadelpark filled with rose bushes. Nearby you'll find the Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art (S.M.A.K.), a must visit!

Take a break from the route, head in the direction of Bijlokekaai along the water and enjoy the beautiful back gardens. You will pass the Jozef Kluyskensstraat, where once a year the Japanese cherry trees blossom and this street is transformed into a picture perfect spot.

Further along the Brabantdam you will find Madam Bakster with her vegan cakes. Purchase a new book in the Paard van Troje before you rest in the Appelbrugparkje with a breathtaking view of the inland waterways of Ghent. Murielle Scherre's lingerie shop La Fille d'O is just a few minutes' walk away. Right opposite you will find Het Moment for an aperitif or iced coffee. End your day with a quick bite at Borsalino.
