Sporty types can explore Ghent’s most beautiful spots in spring during the Sofico Gent Marathon.

Sofico Gent Marathon is the main spring marathon in Belgium. The routes (10 km, 1/2 marathon, marathon) take you along the city’s sights and hidden gems. You will start (and finish) at the Topsporthal.

How to reach Ghent

The course of the marathon will be inaccessible during the passage of the runners.

By public transport

Trams will follow their usual schedule, but some buses will be rerouted.  Consult the route maps of De Lijn for more information.

By car

No parking is allowed on the entire course of the marathon, which will also be inaccessible during the passage of the runners. We recommend that you park your car at a P+R on the city outskirts and use public transport  or the shuttle bus to reach the city centre.  Do you prefer to park your car in an underground car park in the city centre? ? In that case, keep in mind that Parking Vrijdagmarkt will only be accessible via Kammerstraat and Parking Sint-Michiels will not be accessible during the passage of the runners.

Note: P+R Watersportbaan cannot be used from Friday 24 March to Monday 27 March.  This also means there will be no shuttle service during this period.

By bike

Some bicycle axes and streets will be incorporated into the course of the marathon, so watch the signs.  Additional bicycle parking facilities will be installed on Zuiderlaan.
